kenrick 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Unfortunately in my own country where there is a lot of talk of 2020 vision for first world status and billions of dollars in oil revenue yearly this little boy lives without very basic commodities such as pipe borne water and electricity. His family sells fruits and ground provisions from a makeshift stall on the side of the road for a living and they depend on a water truck once a week for their water supply. I thought to myself that I can surely make a difference and give him some hope for a future. I am looking to see how I can do that now...in the meantime though he is looking at me with hope in his eyes. Link to comment
al-farrob 1 Posted April 12, 2007 Good photo. Hope is good, though it is very difficult these days :/ Link to comment
danstan 0 Posted April 12, 2007 You can almost see the fear and concern in the eyes and hands. we should always hope no matter how good or bad things are or seem to be. To lose hope it seems to me is to give up, and no one should do that. Link to comment
kenrick 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Thank you all for your kind comments. I know this is an area of concern in many parts of the world. Abuse of resources and public funds for selfish motives and personal gains seem to be rampant and often unchallenged. Link to comment
rogerleekam 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Great image, Kenrick. Not sure I see hope in the expression, more apprehension if I had to guess. Eyes are particularly strong. Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted May 16, 2007 A story beautifully told both visually and in words. The issues you discussed are near and dear to my own heart. This portrait is exceptional. Link to comment
haleh b 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Your description of this image as heart breaking as it is highlights a very sensitive issue that seems to be an epidemic amongst so many third world countries. Children often have to pay the highest price and there seems to be not enough advocacies on their behalf. Link to comment
