Hey Dan the Man, of course I wanted to check out your work, and like others have said, you have a talent, and it is great that you are experimenting. This is an interesting image because it pulls the viewer into the immediate image with the motion of the grass adding interest as well. I don't know if you tried a faster exposure to freeze the motion or not but this works well. Cheers.

Thanks a lot for your comment, Neil. I'm not so positive that there was motion blur in the grass though, if i recall, it was flat calm. At F14, only so much fits in the DOF.... If i had a tripod with me... and a tripod collar for that lens, it would have been possible to go narrower, but at iso 400 and 1/40 of a second, that was as narrow as i could go. Higher iso's wreak havoc with my camera, and i had too much coffee to go slower...

I would have liked however, to see some true motion blur, there have been some spectacular images I've seen that used it to great effect.

OK, maybe it is "coffee blur" heheh. With this one I used a tripod and dark filter so the exposure is quite long and it was windy, but I like the feeling of motion in the grass and trees: photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5797002

I hope you will continue to experiment.

wow, very cool. You do seem to have a knack for surrealistic looking photos. And as to all the various 'things' that were in there, all i could see was a cool picture of wind blown grass.... :)
