marcadamus 1 Posted April 7, 2007 The first light graces the tips of Sage, Rabbitbrush, Red Willow and Oaks in California's Owens Valley. Reposted this one after minor adjustments to color and exposure. Link to comment
michael_r_riley 7 Posted April 7, 2007 This shot is slightly understated compared to most of your other photos but it is perfect for this subject. The tonality is very nice and the exposure flawless. After seeing this I had to look at the rest of your work and I have to say I was rendered nearly speechless. Outstanding portfolio which I would have to compare to Galen Rowell's best. Good show! newfocus 0 Posted April 7, 2007 Hi Marc, The foreground colour and texture's intriguing and well captured, but I find this shot uncomfortable for some reason. I think it's something about the background behind the trees. I think I'm trying to see further up the hill and it seems a bit cramped. To my eye, a tighter crop, losing the edges of the trees, works well as a semi-abstract though. You'll hopefully realise from my previous comments that I'm a big fan of your work in general, so take this one in that context :) cheers, John. Link to comment
trevor_anderson 0 Posted April 8, 2007 I'm wondering what was going through your mind at the time of shooting this; I'm wondering which degree of scouting was involved to select this composition? A brilliantly done composition, by the way. I just get overjoyed when I see this degree of symmetry in nature. There are many circumstances where the light is fading and the landscape is active, and shooting under mentioned conditions can almost be stressful if compositions aren't readily available. But shooting an area like the above, where one seemingly has more time available to refine composition and not too many pressing elements to distract one from this visual aligning, translates to one of the more blissful stages in photography. Thanks for exposing us to some of your more "simple" images. These are definitely serving to prove how versatile of a photographer you are. Perhaps to follow with this trend of deviating from your norm, you should submit the "rock slide area" image. Link to comment
aluf 0 Posted April 9, 2007 This photo is a very soft one. I really enjoy it. I like the composition with the bushes "closing" the photo. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted April 12, 2007 The layered textures & colours are incredible. The gentle lighting complements the scene. Shots like this really add a new dimension to your portfolio. Link to comment
dejan_p. 0 Posted August 21, 2007 Though most of your superb work on photo.net is done by wideangles, this telephoto capture is one true example of how texture, pattern, composition, color and light should be in perfect image. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 11, 2007 Amazing! I even can't describe my emotions looking on this shot.. 7/7 Link to comment
ron_richins 0 Posted December 26, 2007 A bit more abstract photo to me. I love the "layers" of color and textures in the photo. Beginning with the brush, then willows, and finally trees. Link to comment
marc_dilley 0 Posted February 8, 2008 Marc, this is one of my favorites of yours. I live in this sagebrush steppe country and love it. Somehow this image just captures its essence. What I can't figure out is how you got all the wonderful magenta tones, but without a pink color cast. Amazing. Link to comment
evphotography 0 Posted November 17, 2008 Awesome image Mark. I have been watching your work closely ever since you started rising to the top of your proffesion. Of all of your images this is one of my favorites. Probably because one of my favorite photographers and who's work I inspire to the most is Charles Cramer. This image is a lilttle more towards his style of work, which is probably why I am drawn to it. Beautiful shot, love your use of color here and composition is very strong with the repeating patterns in foreground and the trees. Link to comment
