I always wonder how kookaburras look like because of a childhood song that goes like this: Kookabura sit on the old gum tree, Merry Merry king in the world is he, Laugh, Kookabura Laugh, kookabura gay your life must be.

I love the composition, but the gaussian blur on the background is a bit over the top. There are dark blurry halos around the subjects, and the background colors look unnatural. Certainly a rare shot, Mike. Assuming they are like their north American cousins the king fisher - perhaps they will visit the same perch again, and give you another shot.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Looking back at it now, I think I agree with you James that I could do better. I’ve learnt a lot in the two years since I captured this image and experimented with different processing. I’ll add this to the list of older images to rework. Thanks again.
