dave_dube 10 Posted April 7, 2007 Kenrick, very nice. You do have some halo effect going on which would indicated too much post processing manipulation. Your composition is excellent.Dave Link to comment

dave_dube 10 Posted April 8, 2007 Again, great image and I really like the 'torn edge' effect of the border.I'm enclosing a copy of this photo and what I was refering too. So, no post processing, did you use a flash? That may be why the blue of the sky between the flowers is lighter than the open sky which is darker. This summer I'm going to attempt macro and that's why I'm looking at images so intensly (this image for one). Trying to learn. I don't know wheither to go with a ring flash or a pair up at the leading edge of the lense. Thoughts?Dave Link to comment
kenrick 0 Posted April 8, 2007 Dave... I see what you're saying. I did use the built in flash to fill since the 'sky light' was coming from behind me... time being late afternoon. This orchid hangs from the carport roof and although the sun was behind me the roof blocked off the light but lit the sky to the back of the subject (sun lit sky and flash lit object) which and I think you are right would have accounted for the halo. I myself have never used ring lights but I have been reading up on the net about it. I would say give it a go along with a good macro lens. Also take a look at Ellen van Deelen's page. She has some of the best macro shots I have seen on PN. I am still in the learning stages as well so any tips you may have I'll be interested in and I'll be sure to pass on anything I come across.
