Shooting into the sun poses its problems but it does add texture to

the water. Is the sky too hot?

I think this light really adds depth to the water ( no pun intended!) I have a similar shot, and asked the same question of it; the general concensus is you won't get anything to deal with the 'latitude' required by the highlight and shadow which you are presented with. you just have to deal with whats there at the time!

I like this image. Sky isn't too hot for me, because of the interesting cloud texture. I find the foreground very attractive though, and I wonder if cropping a little off the top - maybe to the level of the sun's rays would improve it (also raise the horizon).

Roger, I agree that raising the horizon might give more impact to the water but I do feel the dark cloud across the top provides a border and also balances the tone in the water. Your comment is appreciated.

What a nice shot! I love the silver/blue tones of the ocean and the diagonal line the waves create on the shore. Nice placement of the surfers in the composition too. The sky isn't too hot for my taste and I think the darker clouds help give good balance and depth.
