Grand Canyon, Arizona

Please take the time to Critique &or Comment on my attempt on

landscape.

I think this is a nice shot, but, if I may say, there is some room for improvement:

 

The small branch on the right should be cropped off, cause it draws your eye to that corner.

 

The land section could benefit from some extra contrast and a bit of saturation.

 

And, finally, the detail in the sky is a bit burn. I'd suggest using "Shadows/Hgihlights" in photoshop to bring it back and maybe selecting the sky only and using "color balance" to boost the blue component.

 

Oh, one last thing. I believe when shooting landscapes (as in everything, really), lightning is everything. I would have tried this shot at sunrise or sunset to use the mountain shadows as "depth markers".

 

Other than that, composition and detail are quite good.

I agree with Javier, this is a pretty good comp. Just the use of better light would help. Its hard to shoot travel images in good light because it limits you to a few hours a day. and the rest is usually not very good for producing good images.

YOur first critique is bang on with this one. I agree with everything he says. I must add however that's it a fantastic perspective and you have shown the magnificnet vastness of the area - really spectacular! Good shot!
