Thanks, everyone. This may be an entry - we'll see what else we get. Dave, hubby is in the contest, too, and he only had a 200, so that was part of the reason for the purchase of the 500, so he could use the 400.

A vow: As long as you keep showing birds I'll keep showing old cars. But I don't think I'll need a 400 or 500 to photograph my subjects, they tend to hold real still for me.

This one is really beautiful and looks like a winner to me!

Birds are definitely harder, Shawn! But I don't know that I could do justice to the old car shots like you have. Thanks for visiting.

Thanks, everyone. We're having more trouble getting cardinal shots at the ranch than woodpeckers, which is the complete opposite of where we live.

This is lovely. I love the colours.

To me, the muted colors look great. More lifelike, and a better conveyance of the emotions of color than a totally saturated, sunlight-bright color palette would.

Got adjusted to the lens almost right away, unlike the 400 VR that took awhile. It's a great lens, perfect for bird photography. I'm very happy with it, even though I need to win quite a few first places in this contest to pay for it!!! :)
