Love it. My advice is to forget about these confessions about happy accidents. I expect that talented people have more happy accidents than those less fortunate.

Rule #1: If it looks good and somebody says they like it, claim it was difficult to do, but you did it on purpose! Never say it was an accident!! *G*

You have to love automatic focus cameras that make photos like this much more frequent than they used to be.

David,

Napoleon stated that Fortune favored the prepared; I say "Accidents" favor the talented! Very well done!

Roy, I guess I could kept quiet about this happy accident. I may try to retake it deliberately and see if I can get a better shot. Thanks a lot.

Michelle, Thanks for sharing Rule # 1 with me. I am not sure what you mean about automatic focussing cameras though. This was focussed manually.

Richard, Thanks.

Jeff, Perhaps not spectacular but I appreciate you saying so.

Jim, If it moves, shoot it. If it doesn't move, shoot it anyway. The more shots you take the more chances you have of accidents happening.

Glenwood, Kind words. So who was it that said, 'Fortune favours the brave?'

David,

I say its spectacular because of what looks like a picture in frame, in nearly every water drop, a light refraction on each drop as well. Thats not easy to do whether you caught this on purpose or by accident. I think you nabbed a unique photo. I'm not a professional photographer by any means. My interest in photography is for my own enjoyment (and hopefully others on Photo.net) but I still like to comment on someone's photos that peak my interest. Kudos on a quite well done photo! Jeff

Thanks for the comment Jeff. You are pretty accurate with what you see. There is a framed picture in every drop. It is this picture. The bright light you see is a flash gun.

I think we are similar Jeff. I am not a professional photographer but I too like to look at photographs and see if I can give any useful comments. I actually find this a great learning tool.

Thanks again!

I think this is a very creative & imaginative piece of art, each droplets a precious gem. I love this. ( Sometimes accidents create the most beautiful happenings.)

If you manually focused this photo then you really can say you did it on purpose. If you use a camera with autofocus to take a photo through a window, the autofocus mechanism will often focus on the dust or debris on the glass instead of the distant object that your eye sees. I don't know how many blurred photos of dusty glass and raindrops I made before I learned to manually set the focus on infinity when shooting through a pane of glass.

Michelle, for what it is worth the photograph I set out to take was not very good. The accident, as originally posted is better. I usually focus the camera manually.

I really like this one David, great reflection of the print in the droplets that are sharply in focus and the blured background that enhances these drops, nice work :)
