I discovered that Tunisians has a common trend: they like to sit/gather outside their doors either alone or in groups, with some chairs lining outside. I wonder whether it's too hot to stay indoors or the house is too small. This was taken through the window of our coach.

cherlyn. I guess it is because they didnt grow up with a tv in their houses, so if they wanted to get a peek of the outside world they had to... go out! in all the countries that were or still are poor and have a warm climate it is everywhere the same. the warmth itself also contributes to this "phenomenon" not necessarily because it is too hot inside, but because you CAN go out most of the year. these people are simply used to face to face contact, they do talk (instead of typing) with each other. if you watch a scene like this for say 30 minutes you will at least see him talking to 3 - 5 different people. nice photo by the way, I would prefer the horizontal line to be straight but i guess you notet this yourself already. best wishes, fr.

Florian, I like your analysis of " to see the outside world, they must GO OUT" I do notice the tilt of the ground but this is a sloped road, so I decide to leave it as it is. Thanks for your comment & analysis.

Denis, now I think the empty chair is for his friends/guest :-)
