I'm new to photo.net and just scroled through the photographs submited. Yours is the one that interested me the most.

If you were trying to produce an advertising type of photo (of the ring) then its an interesting concept i,e, monochromatic image with a coloured object, well composed, well lit, effective use of depth of field and w/a lens for emphasis. However the title you give it seems to suggest otherwise. If you are trying to communicate something else then this mysterious image raises questions in the viewer and offers several connotations and possible pleasures for the viewer to work with. Is the woman praying, meditating, grieving, inhaling some exotic scent, etc etc?? What can she be thinking about? Is it about the person who gave her the ring? In all these possible cases I now find the ring too dominant in the image and would prefer it to more more subtle. More importantly your title very seriously limits all of these possibile meanings, and therefore limits my pleasure(s) in the image. This is one of the problems with titles.I suggest you think very hard and carefully before using one. However I did enjoy looking at your photograph and hope my effort to give you a little feedback is useful. Thanks

I agree with Paul. I find the notion of her gesture to be powerful but the ring does not fit the mold here. A rosary maybe?

i really find the ring a little bit distracting. but if i took it out the photo needs something to speak out. maybe different mood maybe, i donno. it is really interesting and confusing photo. thanks novic for sharing..
