mdd1 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Wonderful birdpicture Kim! I keep on dreaming that these kind of birds will visit my garden too. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Thanks, everyone. I had never been able to get decent woodpecker shots until we entered this contest. The ranch we're shooting on has some regular woodpecker visitors and they come close. It's great! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Wilson, I LOVE the Sigma 500!! It's heavy, so I have to always use a monopod or tripod, but it's giving me sharp images and is easy to use. I was happy with the 400, but this is so much better because I can get closer. At under $1,000, it was worth the purchase. Link to comment
anthonyd 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Your detail kills me! I've been trying to shoot birds with my new 70-200. It's a pro level lens which means nothing if you can't get close enough. Now I have to wait until after I get my bee's (Grrrr!) and save up even more to get another lens. "When will it all end?!" :) I like the new portrait by the way! -Anthony Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 23, 2007 I started bird photography with a 200 and was happy enough with it, although I had to be quite close to get a decent shot. The 400 was definitely better, although it took some getting used to the VR feature. Now that I have the Sigma, it's my lens of choice - probably because I can be even further away from the birds, so have better opportunity at shots. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Nice photo of you in your bio... Has all of the Hummer's left from down there? I put my feeders up today. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Thanks, Dennis - I much prefer being BEHIND the camera than in front of it, but it was overdue for an update. Still have a couple of hummers (the buff-bellied ones); they stay all year long. In the spring, we usually get one or two different ones for a brief time. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted March 24, 2007 Know the feeling about being behind the camera... Heck, I have trouble taking photos of people ever since those horrible Olan Mills days... Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Wow, I have been away for a long time. New camera, new lens... Good stuff... Link to comment
