henrimanguy 0 Posted March 18, 2007 Nice landscape. Perhaps I would ave liked a larger view, not so centered on the red mountain. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted March 18, 2007 Hi Lou Ann! Unlike Henri, I think the composition is okay. I feel the exposure needs some touch-ups. The snow up in the mountains looks okay but the foreground is dark. Judging from the cloudless sky I would guess that this was bathed in full sun but it looks to me as though is were cloud covered. I went through this area several years ago and, if memory serves, these formations are pretty bright under a full sun. I tried my ideas out with a couple of layers. Regards.PS: I should add that I am viewing this on CRT at gamma = 2.1, 6500 Kelvin, luminance of 100 cd/m^2. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted March 18, 2007 Thanks, Walt - funny, I actually darkened the shot. I can never tell what's "right". :-) So, this was taken just after sunrise. The sun was directly behind me. It was a gorgeous, cloudless day ... and when I wandered the rock formations, there were certain shots that would have been impossible because of the sharp shadows. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted March 19, 2007 Well, it may not be a question of what is right or not. Probably more a case of what I just think it should look like. I am, of course, infallible ;0) Regards. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Hi Lou Ann, I like the three layers of color, draws attention to the red rock and the snow covered mountains. Well executed. Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted March 25, 2007 Nice landscape shot, Lou Ann. Looks like a mix of Utah and Colorado in one! Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted March 25, 2007 Lou Ann, it is difficult to figure out the "correct" settings to post. People are viewing with a MAC or Win OS; CRT vs LCD vs notebook; calibrated vs uncalibrated; Vista vs XP; bright room vs dark room and the list goes on.I think Walter did a nice job with fill lighting. I have some photos of Maroon Bells in CO taken just after sunrise but before the rays were above the horizon. I don't see that the sun's rays were above the horizon on this shot either. You need to create your own dynamic range, like in the photo that Walter has posted.Nice composition and angles.Dave Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 1, 2007 Lou Ann, you have disappeared? a ha, to Colorado spring!;-)) I like your original upload, It looks like layers of different kind of landscape details, and the light brown is really lighting the whole.I really would have liked to take photos there as well;-))looks so tempting.
