Great shot. I just did my first maternity shots last night as well. This is a great idea and I really like the tone and feel of the image.

Very classy shot Emily. I like the tones in this. The only feedback I would offer would be to change the focus on her belly and have everything else blurred.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I am not too versed in maternity portraits but I tried to do a more artistic approach to it. I have some more from this session that I will be posting as soon as I get the ok from my model. She was pretty open to what I wanted to try so it was fun for me to play around. I agree with the belly be in focus more and probably should have tried some with my 50mm at 1.8 but I just left my zoom on for the entire shoot so creating a shallow DOF was hard while only using my one strobe.

Thanks Steve & Doug - Your comments are appreciated. Most sessions I just shoot on the fly and don't pre-plan my shots. I think it is mainly because I work with children and their moods & outfits tend to dictate my shooting style. However with this shot, I did alot of thinking beforehand and came up with this idea in my head. I am glad it turned out as good on paper as it did in my mind:)
