dave_dube 10 Posted March 18, 2007 I don't like the border, what do you think of the photo itself? Link to comment

mmmee 0 Posted March 20, 2007 This is a little more than just a candid shot. There is excellent light, and the composition tells a story. I really like it! Not fond of the border, either. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted March 20, 2007 OK Maggie, you don't get off that easy. In your eyes, what would be a good border for this photo? I really didn't know what to place since I don't normally do portraits. This is of our granddaughter Elise, she lives in Florida (hence, the strawberry). We flew down for a long weekend (in the middle of the week).Dave Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted March 21, 2007 I don't usually put frames or borders on my photos, any more. I have a bunch of them collected from the net and added to my old Paint shop Pro editor. I was quite addicted to these things for a while. The old program allows you to make your own frames too, but I never did make any. It was too easy to collect others from the net. But I got a bad time about my frames, most of the time. :)) I can understand why. But, if this were my photo and I wanted to hang it, I would put a fairly large light pink matting around it, with maybe a fairly wide patterned dove grey/old gold/black frame. I don't have a good example in my collection, so I have merely done borders to give you the idea. I think I might even have wider matting than in my attached example. She is a sweetie and well worth hanging up somewhere in your home in this photo. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted March 21, 2007 Maggie, your matting is terrific. That said, it's not what I feel good about for this photo. I need to find something that just keeps the eyes focus and does not attempt to enhance. Thanks for your suggestion because it has given me an idea that I didn't have before.Dave Link to comment
mmmee 0 Posted March 21, 2007 I think I understand. If you want the focus on the eyes, any embellishment takes away from that. So, simple is probably better. But the white does not do it. It takes away rather than enhances. Just a plain black line and off white matting? Simple wood frame? Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted March 21, 2007 I'm going to try a couple different types later this week. The more I look at the current one, the more I dislike it.Thanks, Dave Link to comment
