Nice shot, Daniel. I agree; it does look surreal. Nice color and composition. Looks like it could have been from the "Lord of the Rings."

Daniel, this is a great shot with a "Lord of the Rings" mood. The composition really works well. I do think it could be improved with a slight curves adjustment to boost contrast and bring some detail in the rocks.

I agree on the above contrast and colour boosting, but only a slight boosting. Generally, a great photo with unusual coastscape, nicely composed, etc. To improve it, I think it should show more of the coast itself, the blackness is rather anonymous and distracting. If you used a different shutter speed to bring out more concrete motion/stream of water around the single rock in the foreground, it would better I think.

Strong image. I'm undecided about the log. I suppose there wasn't much choice for other perspectives, and I don't see it as a detrement. Really nice handling of the exposure. I'm somewhere inbetween the original and Will's edit. I think Will's version is just a little too strong for me and some of the peacefulness gets lost in the heavy contrasts, though the first version feels just a tad flat. Very accurate color and tones. The little swirl around the underwater rock makes the whole composition come together.

 

Something else I've noticed lately: "Lord of the Rings" has actually become an adjective widely used to describe landscape photos. Hmmmm.....

Fabulous image! The tree trunk is fine for m. I agree with Marc--the contrasty version that Will posted is a bit overdone to my tastes. In particular the water seems to have lost the magical feeling. I actually prefer his sky and rocks though. Nothing you can't fix with a mask.
