just a little blurry. Was this handheld? If not, a tripod will help. At 1/400th sec I really don't see how you got the blur, even hand holding. Cool looking animals

It was hand held and I know it's a tad blurry, it's especially noticeable when viewed larger. I think it's a result of the cropping. This portion was cropped from the edge of the original photo. I haven't checked for a review of the Canon EF 100-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM, however, I'm sure it doesn't hold the shapeness to the edges like an L series lens would (the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS and 100-400mm F4-5.6L IS are both on my to buy list). That being said it was taken with a 30D and one would think the the crop factor would eliminate this problem. There is also another photo in the portfolio that as been cropped from this original.
