I like it. Simple, and definitely gets the point across. As variations, I might crop the sky/horizon out, maybe bring the plant closer to the foreground.

Jana, this is superb, such a large barren place with this one plant alone there, the textures in the mud really add to the intrest of this photo well done. Rich.

Definitely wrong turn, but 'the guy' somehow survived and and even made nice subject for your photo.
