tylerwind 0 Posted March 13, 2007 I had posted an uncropped version of this shot yesterday. I liked the "layers" of orange you could see in the sky and since I'm biased, I was trying to keep the sky and the foreground blurred waves which put my horizon in the middle and in all honesty made for an unimpressive composition. I've since had my eyes opened and now greatly favor this cropped version. This is taken with my new ultra wide angle lens. Before this week, I'd never shot anything under 35mm (which is more like 55mm on my Canon XT). I also didn't have any filters so I always had a zoomed composition and tried to minimize foreground because in order to capture my sunrise or sunset, I had to underexpose and lose all my foreground detail. I now have some ND grad filters and a wide angle lens so I'm trying to learn the art of placing foreground interest and not always relying on having the sky as 2/3 of your shot. Any thoughts, comments, tips, or suggestions--especially from those of you with ultra wide angle experience--are greatly appreciated! Link to comment
