barryl 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Please view "larger". My objective was to capture the feel of moving water in a landscape, as so many others do. Link to comment
oswulf 0 Posted March 13, 2007 I like it. The sunset reflected off the water is cool, overall color and "mood" is nice. Link to comment
tylerwind 0 Posted March 13, 2007 I really like this shot, Barry. I especially like the pinkish clouds at the top and the sunlight mountain tops. The river moves through the shot very nicely. Did you use any filters for this shot? I think you could have stood a tad bit more foreground light (although you couldn't afford to expose the top any more) but it looks like you may have used a 1 stop ND grad (?). The main reason I ask is that I just bought my first filters and I'm trying to learn about their use and effects. If you could let me know, I'd appreciate it! Once again, great shot--your composition is stellar! Link to comment
barryl 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for the comments. Tyler, I did not use an ND filter although the effect of using a "Color control point" in Nikon Capture NX amounts to the same thing and I did that. I bought an ND filter some time ago but never use it because the gradient, though blended, occurs in a straight line and I always have a tree or a mountain sticking up in the sky. The software eliminates that concern and allows the effect. I tried lightening up the forground even further but even just a little more, makes the image look like nearly full daylight instead of the early sunrise that it was. Link to comment
