As I did researched for this project, I was saddened by all the conflicts we, as a nation, have participated in over the last 60 years. Millions of people have been lost forever.

I most assuredly would not knowingly put any person in harm's way. It is my opinion that sending an 18 year old off to war is morally wrong.

I believe that the majority of us feel similarly. I also believe that because we are in the majority, we should & can use our collective power wisely. We should insist upon sending our elected officials to war first. If every parent, in every nation of the world, just said "No". We might be able to stop this tragedy that is escalating out of control by the minute.

It is a new day, a new era, we can & must say "No". We can & must become enlightened & enlighten those around us.

Call me crazy, call me naive, call me silly, but remember, history teaches us that when we kill our enemies, we only create more & different enemies.

Conflict is natural, killing is not. I firmly believe the current war in Iraq is over oil, power & money. Our present government not only does not have it's own citizens best interest at heart, they could care less about the Iraqi people.

Please wake up, this is not going to stop without using our collective power as the silent majority. Write your President, Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, Senate Majority Leader, (Dear Nancy,), US Senators, House of Representatives, State Senator, State Representative, your Governor & anyone else that comes to mind. Email is fast & effective! Plus, right now it's free :)

It's time to stop the killings. I'd rather walk!

Thanks Rashed & Giovanni. I appreciate your comments & value your opinion. Obviously, I hate war! I know that there are bad people out there, but there are a lot more good people than bad. Good people have the bad out numbered 10 to 1. Why then do the bad carry so much influence? Maybe my next project.

Thank You,

Jayme

Rashed- You are too kind : I wish the same for you! I like to think of myself as a creative spacial thinker :) Maybe that's the artistic portion of my personality. I can be down to earth, but mostly I prefer to be somewhere in the stars :) As my husband says "Out there, somewhere". He always smiles when he says it :)

Thanks Pete, I appreciate your opinion :)

I'm glad we live in a country where you can speak up and say what you want with FREEDOM and choice. So many people, even on PN do not have the ability to do so even in their own country like we do. I love the picture inside the picture itself and would love to see it even closer. VERY well done! :) ~ micki

Thanks Micki :) I too am glad we have the freedoms we have. My hope is that in the future we overcome our fears as a nation & become a little more worldly in our thinking. I hope for peace & understanding. I want no more people harmed in the name of religion or oil :( Being the eternal optimistic pessimist, I just can't believe we all can't live in the great big beautiful world together without violence & killing. There has to be a way! Greed & fear of loosing our precious material possessions fuels the fire. But.... even more precious than our material possessions are the wonderful people that slip in & out of our lives (Just like you, Rasheed & too many, many more to mention). Money, power & "things" come an go, but people need to be cherished & appreciated. For without their subtle influences in our lives & the fun created by sharing with them, real life would not be worth a darn!

We, as a nation, like to complain a lot, but we have so.....very much. If we could learn to share our wealth & knowledge, the world would be a much better place for all to live in. I hope for joy & laughter. I want a "smile" to light the world, not nuclear holocaust.

The image is approx. 24x24 300 DPI without the framing details. With them it becomes about 34x34. It should print wonderfully. I would like to print the image on a glossy finish paper & the framing stuff on a watercolor mat type finish paper. Or visa versa. Then mount the gloss onto the watercolor paper. Then wood frame & place on an easel. It's much too large for my Epson printer. I need to find a wonderful on-line printer. Any suggestions?

MPix is way off on their colors, Shutterfly is good on color, but lacks paper choices????

I have said so many of the same things you said here for years now. You see I am married to someone for 35 years now that comes from one of the countries the U.S. government has conflict with at present. I have traveled to his homeland and find the people to be so wonderful, loving and kind. Our government as well as the governments of many other countries should be ashamed of all this waring. I find myself believing that peace is possible too if the leaders would just want it badly enough, however history has shown us that the efforts at peace are not without flaw; and many times these efforts are for the wrong reasons. It seems that one person's (or government's) idea of peace is another's idea of war and control. I feel that there has been too much bloodshed in the name of Peace, Religion, and Protection to last us an eternity.

Your work here is wonderful and makes me proud to know you through PN.

My Best Always, Bridgette

Thank you all so very much or your kind comments.

Bridgette- We should be ashamed of our actions. I find myself wondering just exactly how this person got elected. I believe it was a very low time in our history when people, as a whole, were frightened & scared. The politicians played on our emotions & sold us a bill of goods. Many people have come to realize they were duped.

Unfortunately, we still have about 18 months left in this administration. Our only hope is that because they no longer control the House & Senate, very little will get done. While I hate partisan thinking, this may be our only hope. Sadly :(

I wish for enlightenment for all. As Ann Landers use to say, "Wake up & smell the coffee" :)

Jayme,

This is terrific. I agree with everything you said and hope that someday people realize that war is not the answer to anything.

Thanks Brad. I just realized I never explained the symbol that looks like a 4 over Ethan's face. It's an ancient symbol meaning "Governmental Enlightenment". I found it in my research of symbols:)

Jayme, this one a truly an outstanding piece of of work. The concept, the symbolisms and the image show us your heart and soul. I applaud you for your ability as an artist, and your courage to stand up and support your beliefs. I would be proud to display this work on my wall. Thank you for stepping forward.

One of the basic liberties we enjoy is the right to speak out.

Ben Franklin once said, any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Thank you so very much CJ. What a timeless quote, I love it!.

Here's one of my favorite quotes made by one of my favorite people, "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding" Albert Einstein.

They both seem so appropriate for today's world :)

Very symbolic and very meaningful, Jayme. This image is best understood in the larger view. Nicely done!

P.S. I hope to see you and Toby at my annual event. My new significant other is awesome. Did you get the the online ivitation?

Hi Ken-

We did get it :) Thank you! As it stands, we'll be there, but..... Haylee is due for our 5th grandson right during this time. If everything goes OK & nothing happens with her, we'll be there. She's been plagued this time with PUPP's (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of pregnancy), she has the ungodly rash caused by the pregnancy. She'd been really miserable these last 2 months. The C-section is planed for the 27th of April, but they may have to re-schedule for 1 to 2 weeks earlier if things get any worse. Plus, 2 days before the 27th, they are due to move into their new home. She is not only physically exhausted, she's mentally exhausted from the building process :(

We volunteered to stay with the other kids at their house (not sure which one at this point :) The poor thing always gets something. The last two times she had preeclampsia with terrible hypertension & swelling. Scared us to death :) 240/110. Truly very scary. I am saying lots

of prayers ;) And keeping my fingers crossed! I can't wait to get my hands on this new little boy:) I'll feel much better once it's over!

I also can't wait to tell you about my new studio, it's awesome :) I'll bring pictures :)

Mandala for the age. Superb work for the voice of the artist in all of us.

Eastern culture refers to this age as a Kali Yug, an age of darkness. The truth is known but the light is obscured as it conscious with only a few. Illuminate the darkness and continue to spread the light. Bless you for lending your voice. From the trickle comes a rivulet, from the rivulet to a stream, and from the stream it flows into a river...

Thank you Wilson :)

Thank you Philip, I agree, this may be an age of darkness. It becomes increasingly difficult to remain positive, but occasionally, if one looks, there is a ray of sunshine.

In this increasingly complicated world, one "must" retain the ability to think independently & voice those thoughts.

Just a thought I'd like to share:

I visited our local Wal-Mart super store yesterday. As I walked from isle to isle, the music changed constantly. I became increasingly annoyed at the confusion of it all.

I likened it to how a child with ADD or ADHD must feel, switching channels constantly. My thinking became interrupted with each music change. I began to feel unconfortable. I found myself wandering aimlessly. Was this their intention? I think so! I doubt I will ever go back again :) Not my style.

Suddenly, I thought to myself, I long for the days of small independent stores where the elevator music played peacefully & I could think about what I actually came there for. :) I must be getting old :)
