Your comments on this would be most appreciated!

As a note: this was not done in Photoshop, this is all through the camera in the studio, this was from my second attempt!

Thanks!

Ken.

Nice indeed, but I couldn't open the other one. If this one has a RGB colors, the other one looked as it had CYM ones, ha!

Cheers to that!

Thank you Anna, glad you liked it!

Dennis, thanks for the comment!

I used three strobes, one above and to the front slightly with barn doors and a dark grey gel "100ws" to give this an overall black and white look, one behind the white background "50ws" and one directly to the right "50ws" set low and shinning up at an angle toward the colors with a snoot so the light would hit just the colors, and a glass plate under the cup, the colors are made from corn syrup and food coloring, I used a polarizing filter on the lens to lend to the effect, ISO 100, manual setting = 125th at f/11, tripod and remote release!

Thanks Pierre, I used a different gel on that one, and was running low on color goo when it was shot, so yeah it does have that look! :O)

I think I may have numbered these wrong, this one was shot before the other one, oh well!

Thanks Willy, thanks for stopping by!

Thanks David, "Darn-it", I knew someone would notice that!

You're not seeing things, the glass does have a slight tilt, I didn't notice it myself until after I shot a series of these, and it was one of those "slapping self on the head and attempting to pull out hair" moment's!

And your right, its much more fun to see just how far you can push reality without pushing a button, "besides", I'M trying to make up for my lack of PS skills, since I wouldn't know how to do this in Photoshop. :O)

Ken.

David, I don't know how my post got in before yours, I guess I'M becoming psychic! :OP

Certainly got my attention. I think doing it with photoshop would have been easier but possibly not as much fun.

I also appreciate your willingness to share your methods with us.

There is something not quite right with the glass. Your 'horizon' is correct but the lip of the glass is not parallel with the 'horizon.'

Good one!

Addendum:- Sorry! Don't know how I missed the comments above.

David!

No need to be sorry, the post directly above yours was my answering your post, I have no idea how I was able to get it in before yours, as I would swear that I read your post just before writing mine, but the time stamp is correct for when I wrote it!

Kim!

Thanks, I really appreciate that thought, but if you only knew how long it took me to set this one up, and get it just the way I envisioned it to be, a lot of trial and error went into this one!

Oops! just did it again! :O)

Bravo. Good shot along with what looks like some hard work. I'd have enjoyed everything about shooting this still-life but the clean-up. Did I read that you shot this more than once? Very technical for corn syrup and food coloring. The colors stay separate very well during the pour. ~Sky

Hey Sky!

Glad you stopped by, the multi shots for the most part was during the lighting setup phase, to get the lights just right, for the pour, I shot a series of 2 sets at 6 photos each, the colors staid well apart because the corn syrup is so thick, there wasn't much mess really, at least not on this, but on one other that I just did called "the birth of RGB", now that one created a good mess!
