"The peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) is the fastest living creature, reaching speeds of at least 124 mph and possibly as much as 168 mph when swooping from great heights during territorial displays or while catching pry birds in midair."

I guess I was lucky to get a shot like this. He was really charging in the air and trying to catch a dove.

I am not making this up. Peregrine Falcon is the fastest flying

bird in the world. This shot is not as sharp but I am still happy

about it. Thanks for viewing.

Great catch! You had perfect timing. Just watched a documentary where a small camera was attached to a falcon. It was clocked in a stoop at over 200 mph.

Jerry,

This photo is fantastic. Words cannot describe your talent with a camera. Just curious, how many shots did you take before you got one that was this good?

Congrats on this capture, Jerry. I am amazed that you can capture this with a 80-200 lens. Did he get the dove? I have been told by people observing a peregrine hitting a dove in mid-air but haven't been lucky enough to see it myself. Regards, Dieter

i'd love to see one of these birds in person, let alone get a picture of it! So, did he get the dove (did you get a picture of it?)?

Jerry, you have captured a mini-jet fighter in flight with very good exposure and light. Wings akimbo, claws withdrawn, eyes glistening- a marvellous capture.Kudos!

Jerry -

That is an amazing shot.  I am looking for a peregrine falcon shot for a book that I am publishing with the not for profit MAA (Mathematical Assoc. of America).  In one chapter I compare a skydiver to a falcon, and I was hoping to use your image with permission and acknowledgment.
