Guest Guest Posted March 11, 2007 Hey Doug, I like the image a lot and the way you've captured the various levels of light. I'm not a big fan of so much black space in a photo without any detail, so that's a little distracting to me. Would have been super if there were yet an outer layer with light and tones instead of the black, but I'm sure it just was not there. Nevertheless, great feel from what is there! Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted March 11, 2007 Doug, looks like you captured a lot of feeling in this shot. Partial to black and white photographs. This caught my eye right off. (reminded me of the scene from John Wayne's " The Searchers " ) high marks and great shot..Ray Banfield Link to comment
julio_segura_carmona1 4 Posted March 11, 2007 Excellent composition of this image, difficult and very resolute their very hard light in the shades, you have known how to give the perfect light to the area where they prevail, the big grise masses, cordial Greetings Doug.. Link to comment
Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted March 11, 2007 Holds my interest for a long while, very well composed B&W. The second layer (room) should be a bit darker toned, IMO Link to comment

kentb2 0 Posted March 11, 2007 Doug, the larger view is even better. The details both subtle and pleasing in every small grain of soil and rock. The black framing is very dramatic and that small light line creeping through the door jam crack is and elegant touch. A cleaner composition is hard to imagine. Link to comment

snapshooter 0 Posted March 12, 2007 Thank you, everyone, for your complimentary comments and suggestions. I have so much to learn about digital processing. Haven't even tried Layers, yet. So far, it's just the Lasso, Gamma control and Cloning tools, to do the burning in, and dodging. Did another version and cloned in more room, toned it down a bit, and reduced the black matte content. jan_piller 0 Posted March 13, 2007 Your floor looks cloned - can see the repeats and you don't want any 3/3 gremlins catching that! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 13, 2007 Doug, I like this new one a lot, the contrast works for me, the darker interior is a little more mysterious yet I can still make out the details. Not sure what happened when you posted this new one, but things got kind of pixellated. Note the strange patterns in the sky that weren't in your original posting. Not sure what happened there. Any way you slice it, this is a real nice photo and, like someone above said, I too immediately thought of John Ford's The Searchers, one of my favorite movies and favorite directors.Of course, he would probably have some time-worn woman with a face full of pathos somewhere in the shot, but then . . . joe-tury 0 Posted March 18, 2007 I have viewed this several times . Here's my two cents. The frame puts me in a dark place and the doorway is hope.Is the door closing or opening ? I don't know. Very nice job Doug. Link to comment
