Beach Toys 04

Dreaming of summer time ... this is a series of "abstracts" of the colorful things found in the shops along Atlantic Ave in VA Beach last summer. I'm also conducting a little PN experiment. Comment if you wish...

Hi, LouAnn! Never thought of can cozies as art before...nicely seen. The jumble of bright colors really makes this shot interesting.

LouAnn: An interesting blend of color, light and shading - well put together abstract - fits right in with the summer theme - Beach Toys... This with the others work well.

I like the balls the best, then this one second of the Beach Toy series. We had 84 degrees today!!!! It was almost TOO hot for sitting in a bird blind, though. Yeah, I know...you feel sorry for me, don't you?

Hey! you never did share what your PN experiment was? is it still going on? do you care to clue us in?

Hi Linda - no big deal, actually ... and I never really followed through. What I wanted to do was take a bunch of photos that were similar (in this case, brightly colored beachy abstracts) and upload them at different times and on different days to see when the most ratings would come in. I know that a bunch of you folks have given up on ratings ... but I have always found that ratings tie in to # of views and then to # of comments from random folks. And although I highly value comments from my "old faithfuls" (thanks, guys!!) ... I also know that a stranger is more likely to be brutally honest with me, so the comments from the people who know my work and growth are balanced with people who objectively compare my work with photo.net photo gallery photos in general.

 

It seems that the ratings #'s have changed so much in the past 6-8 months. I used to get 12-20 ratings within a couple of hours of posting a photo for critique ... and better photos would quickly get more than that. I have a photo with over 70 ratings. Now I can't hardly get to 10 ratings ... and only photos with 11+ ratings make it to my "most frequently rated" photos, for whatever that is worth.

 

Linda - by the way - I plan to send out an e-mail to some of you in the next week or so (I hope!) ... on top of the other "stuff" in my life that you and I have talked about, my mom has been sick, so I've been back & forth to Buffalo a few times in the past couple of weeks. (I know ... not material for a comment on a photo ... so if the elves actually ever look at my photo discussions, they'll edit this, I guess.) I want to update everyone on what's the deal with me lately. I'll get to that as soon as I can!! I miss you guys a LOT!!
