I'm hoping that you went over and gave her a buck or two, but if not then at least consider doing so the next time. And if you'll send me the bill I'll reimburse you for the $20 if you have it to put into her cup.

The image has much to say but not as much as the look in the eyes of the old lady. I'm sad, but thank you for sharing this wonderful moment of "Las Turistas"!

A very poweful image and sad to know that that such poverty exists in the world. The composition is perfect, with the men on the right passing and the man on the left, walking as to be far from the old woman and trying not to see the obvious, will not offer any help to her. Paul

Thank you for your comments, Shawn, Julie and Paul. Unfortunately poverty does exist, and probably always will, even in our own country. And yes, Shawn, I did walk over and gave her a couple of bucks after I took this shot of her. Should I come across her again, I will make it $20 and tell her it's from Shawn! :)

Send me the bill, I'm good for it.

Barb, I was attempting to comment on your image of the clothes-lines with the chicken but you deleted the image before I could get it sent. Here is what I was trying to say, as best as I can remember:

  • Barb I like this image for its composition but I don't like the three plastic buckets that I've found in the image. I try to eliminate all plastic from photos that I take and if I have to, I'll go move items from the scene I want to photograph. Someday I'll have to go out for one complete day and just take photographs of plastic. It will be interesting to see what I come home with. OH! By the way I do LOVE the chicken in your image.
So, that is sort of what I was trying to say before your image disappeared.

Shawn, that is exactly why the image disappeared, I decided it was too cluttered. I had already cropped the image about 40%, so when I tried for more to get rid of the buckets, the sharpness suffered too much. Yes, the chicken added a nice touch. I should have taken a bunch more pics of the scene from closer up, but it was either that or join my group down the street for a Tequila tasting event. It was hot and I was thirsty. :)
