Your pictures of Venice are really good. This one is the one I would pick if i were to shop for a keeper because the light and textures are great. You have others that are cool too but are a bit out of focus or softened a lot. I think they could benefit from a bit of sharpnening but if it is your intention...then I respect that, tastes are very personal and it's good that way. Thank you for your comments on my picture...it is very much appreciated.

Thanks for your comments. Normally I prefer sharpness in a photo, like in this one of the pavers, but for most of the series, I wanted a mistier, softer look.

 

I have been a huge fan of Alex Gotfryd's book "Appointment in Venice"; the soft focus captures perfectly the sea mists that sweep over the city in the winter. It was this look that I sought to recreate.

 

Besides, it is as un-calendar-like as I could make it.
