Handheld and probably 1/8s for the blurred hand.Grain was intentional, but accentuated by bad developer. (there is a whole series of these I may upload)

This is a departure from my usual, and I shot a whole bunch of

these. I like a lot of them, and I may upload some more later. Some

of my acquaintances have commented on them and seem to like them, so

I wanted to get some more impartial opinions. Ratings are alright,

but comments are most appreciated. I'll be doing some in color soon

as well. He intends to use them on his website.

Yeah, the title is silly, but how else does one grab attention if you

don't have a hero balloon by your name?

I'm getting the idea you want to show the strumming hand in motion. Good idea but difficult to pull off with great success. This blurred motion is mostly lost in this image due to several factors. Overall lightness and soft focus of the elements. Shutter speed seems just a little to fast, shortening the motion and giving it an almost out of focus or camera shake look instead. Also the soft lighting adds to the total soft, blurry look thus losing the "motion" that I think you've intended.

Try a darker backgroud/lighting scheme including the guitarist's clothing, bring a harder light from a more severe angle and slow the shutter speed to give more motion to the motion. Having the instrument in sharp focus with a good cross-lighting, the motion will stand out more and for added impact fire a flash once during the strumming to "freeze" a ghost image of the hand or maybe several flashes (strobelite) for effect. The guitarist may need to make an exagerated motion to help it stand out more while keeping the instrument as still as possible to keep it in sharp focus for contrast with the movement.

Just suggestions.

I like the blur and the composition is nice, although maybe just a bit more of his head could be shown. The only thing that I would improve would be the light and tonality, ie. "more interesting midtones" would be nice, but that's just me...
