germainclaude 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I'm fascinated by these mirrored images. The results are often amazing. I even have a folder (not in PN) of that kind, where I put the most interesting of my "tests". Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted March 6, 2007 Claude you are right, the results of mirror imaging are often very beautiful I have done a few and a couple are in my portfolio too. In this case though it was more of a study of B/W. Since one side was almost all naturally black, that part was easy. The time consuming ( I know you don't like this word ) part was getting the white mostly white. There I was zoomed in at 400% cleaning up in between the cat hairs and whiskers. If anyone knows of an easier way I would love to hear it! Thanks for stopping by. Link to comment

germainclaude 0 Posted March 7, 2007 I don't know the english equivalent for the french expression : s'arracher les cheveux sur la tete. But this is what I do when I have to select hair in Photoshop. Perhaps the most difficult thing to select... Link to comment
Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted January 9, 2008 This is so cool, Kim! How did you do it exactly? I have some kittens. Would like to experiment with them on this. I am very new to photography and hope to learn much on this site. I am most impressed by your photos. Thank you for your comment on the flower. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 10, 2008 Oh Boy, I don't know quite what to tell you Diana. There is no such thing as "exactly" in photo editing, no recipe per say. I remember playing with the idea of a mirror image then thought " Why don't I make one side on a white background". Easier said than done. The original photo is the one on the right then I created a layer for transparency so that I could get rid of the black background. Another layer was created for the white background and 2 more I think for the frame. The longest part was using the eraser tool next to her whiskers and chest. I believe that part was done zoomed it at 400%. I was working a little bit at a time for a few days and saving my work every few minutes as a working file, saving all the layers that way. I think the way to start if you haven't worked in layers is to find yourself a tutorial and practice. I use a program called The Gimp. It's free software that you can download from the Net and I am quite happy with it. The frustrating part is taking baby steps and starting at the beginning. If you don't understand layers yet I recommend you start with regular editing of your photos using levels and the colour tools and don't forget to sharpen your images too that makes a big difference. That's usually the last thing I do. Good luck to you and keep me posted. If you have any other questions you can e-mail me. I'd be happy to help you. Kim Link to comment
