When I took this I was thinking about composition, the shapes and

lines of the sage, and the combination of textures, I didn't really

notice the bit of green grass sprouting until later.

 

Any comments, critiques, advice welcome.

Nice monochromatic composition, with a little bit of green. Yet, perhaps is it a bit busy with the long grasses ? It seems to me that the same with only the post and the twisting trunk would be better. What do you think ?

I find this one compelling, and love the mono color. I do not think it is too busy, in fact, the many lines of the brush add to the composition and make it dynamic.
