Torc Waterfall

davidclapp

Torc Waterfall, behind me were about 60 tourists with screaming kids clambering about all over the place; shows you how an idyllic photo can be far from peaceful when you are taking it!

I thought this photo was very nice.

Well composed with a nice flow in the water. Great use of long exposure and very nice vibrant colours.

Great composition and exposure, David! You nailed the shutter speed to get the correct water blur. Great work! I continue to enjoy and learn a lot from your work--you have a lot of talent and some spectacular shots!

PS-Have you tried out my lighthouse cover the lens technique yet? Just wondering how it worked for you.

Cheers Tyler! No I havent tried out your technique yet but I hope to get some better photos of a local lighthouse when the weather gets better using this idea because without it it looks totally blown out. It has been continual wind and rain for a month and a half now so not much photography for me, just being chained to the PC doing travel shots from the summer.

I like this image. I'd burn or crop out the hotspot at the top. The rest of the scene is very pleasing and well composed. Good job.

Sounds good, David. Please do shoot me a msg or leave a comment after you try out the technique--I'd love to hear how it works for you and what modifications you make to the process. Hope the rain clears and you get some more lighthouse shots soon! I enjoy them! Sunrise behind our lighthouse will be starting at the end of March (sun has to move more North)--I hope to have some of my own soon after that!

Hi David,

May I know exactly where you manually focussed when you took the shot please? Was it around 1/3 from the bottom of the picture? I'm still learning. Just want to improve. Thank you very much.

Oliver.
