Indeed, a great capture. His beak looks a little sharp but that could be the jpg compression. My only other nit is the rock underneath the Heron. Could you clone that out using the water? It just seems to be more of a distraction than the anchor you likely wished it was.

 

All that notwithstanding, this is a great shot. I love the sharpness in the eye and the sense of motion you get with the composition of him moving into the frame. Very very nice shot!

Excellent! I agree, take out the rock as a finishing touch. Perfect light and exposure, looks beautifully natural. (7/6 if permitted)

Great shot even with rock.

While the're both excellent renditions, I thiink your initial post retains a perspective, and proximity to the beach, that is all but lost in the rework.

Excellent shot of one of my favorite birds. Rock or no rock is equally impressive. The bird in flight is captured marvelously.

A fine capture. . great color and detail . . As for the rock, I think the image works well either way but my personal preference would be to remove it.
