the white gallery Ascension

There are three kinds of ascension in this photo.

The first one, banal, represents the conditions in which this photowas taken. You can't find this place in the plains of Italy, you mustgain altitude, walk on mountain trails. The reward for this ascensionis a view of the place where the rationality of man meets thespontaneity of nature.

The second ascension is the one of the subjects. Houses built withstones, but also INTO the stones. Nothing more resistant, but alsonothing more bound to the ground. What can save us from this prison?Our eyes. Yes, they start "spying" the image from the ground andslowly ascend, bouncing between the lines of roofs until they meet thesource, the place from where those stones came from: the snowy peaksin the background, suspended, almost escaping in the freedom of thesky.

The third ascension is the spiritual one. In the white of purity thesoul ascends and flies freely above everyday life's problems. You canlook at them heavy like big stones, but also so familiar for us thatthey've become our home. Like every house it "protect" us, but closeour eyes to the real world. It's our duty to come out of our problemsand don't feel ourselves as victims. The innate goal of man is to seethe world it was given to him and elevate his soul with no limits,till the moon and even more...

Che dire, bellissima! Mi piace anche la suggestione delle tre ascensioni ed in effetti in questo scatto, ricchissimo, ci sono gli elementi per coglierle tutte e tre. I picchi sullo sfondo e i ripidi pendii suggeriscono la prima, le case proiettate dalle rocce verso i monti lontani la seconda mentre la luna in cielo da' quel senso di mistero e di misticismo che porta anche al terzo significato.

Thank you Tarcomnicu, it was really an AMAZING day! I was the only person in this whole marvellous valley... I actually never tried that experience once again.

Found you! But had to google you. I can't find my way around photo.net. Enjoying perusing your photos once again. This is one of my all time favorites as you know. So nice to see it again! Your captions were nice additions as well..... yes, from earth-bound to universe, all in one moment. Lovely!

Thanks Pierre. I should have waited for sunset light, but then the moon would have not been there! The moon is very very important in the composition of this image, but also in its meaning.

 

This photo has actually already been rated 3/3 by one and 4/4 by another... what to say... they are people in search for a light to illuminate their dark and cold lives. I won't give them mine, that's why I won't spend a word more about them.
