katzpjs 50 Posted February 22, 2007 David, another supurb image! I find lots of class in this and it is of the top of the class. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,334 Posted February 22, 2007 David, I think this is a very unique photo of an old vehicle, which ain't exactly an easy task. I've seen a gazillion old Internationals & I never noticed that "I" next to the grill. An outstanding composition. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 22, 2007 I don't think the photo is all that great, but I can't thank you enough for inflating my ego. Thanks for the very generous praise. Knowing your work, makes it all the more flattering. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 22, 2007 To be honest, I didn't feel that it was all that special, since there are an awful lot of vehicle photos out there. That eye is, indeed, something I have not seen before, and still find it rather strange. I guess it would be the equivalent of a parking light. Surely could not have illuminated much. Thanks for commenting. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 22, 2007 David, I like this, too! I have a soft spot for old Internationals. After reading your biography, I can see why you liked my old motel photo. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 22, 2007 After reading my bio and seeing the stuff I do, I'm sure you can easily imagine how much I liked that motel photo. That's my kind of photography. Thanks for looking and commenting Kim. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted February 22, 2007 A lovely shot David...I like the shape, the colors (green and rust) and the humour touch of you in the chrome...not to mention the grille stripped structure that adds energy....snow presence is also nice. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 22, 2007 Thanks. Funny how discards can still have their place in the sun and provide pleasure even in their uselessness. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted February 22, 2007 this is a brilliant piece of composition - using the chrome part as a mirror. I'm surprised nobody commented on that, yet. I think that is as much part of the photo as the actual truck. The number of shapes you have there, the tones and the snow accent are nice, too. So is this the deal?...You find one truck in the whole Montana and will show it piece by piece? That's how you frugal Californians do it, eh? So when do the wheels come in? On another, feminine, note: shouldn't we adopt the British label "lorry", or Lorry? In fact, the headlight in the photo above is in the shape of a breast - with your reflection in it... Oh, oh, my man, where is the V8 spree sending you? Wonderingly, Micheal Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 23, 2007 Great, the unusual self portrait brought a smile! Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted February 24, 2007 gorgeous colors and textures. i find the layers of paint on the headlight especially charming, and i can almost smell the snow... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 24, 2007 Jack I know this is not the sort of image you would normally do, so I appreciate the comment. Linda, if memory serves me right you do some cars, so this might be more down your alley than Jack's. At any rate, knowing how good your work is, I am honored for the commment. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted February 27, 2007 David, I find this to be one of your very strongest images. It razor sharp and color crisp. The composition choice is excellent. I give you big points on your photographic stance as we witness in the chrome reflection. A nice elbow extension. A must in getting the best shot. Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks for the commentary. Always a pleasure to have an eminent artist such as you visit these humble images. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Beautiful, David. The green complementary, portrait-oriented relative of Susan's red truck. An excellent photograph. I agree with Kent, SOME extension you have here! Link to comment
