You need to get up to Montana more often.....WOW....your new images just "pop" with interest, composition, color, and the exposures are right on! Someone told me that if we like to photograph doors and windows it's like looking into the soul, and that we're "open" to discovery. I'm impressed.

Once again I'm indebted to you for your overly kind criticism. I have not sat down and gone through the 500 plus images I took, but this one stood out to me immediately as one that I was really going to like. I think it will remain one of my favorites from the trip.

now I know that they deprived you of V8 in Montana. The caption makes no sense. There is no stone, nor leaf and the door was found...by you, at least. Maybe you could say that after Sharon Stone left, she couldn't find the door. The confusing caption aside, this is indeed an interesting photo. There is a good story in it, actually, as many stories as individual views of this: the limp flag, the big flower potty, the door framed with the weathered door frame (duh). Colour-wise it's nice, too. I think the contraption to the right of the door would be better cloned out (or shown whole). I find it distracting this way. Cheers, Micheal

Damn, you are getting critical! I really don't mind though. The title is from a favorite book of mine, and I have been waiting to use it for a long time. The words are just so deep. It truly is not an "unfound" door, but more like an "unknown" door. Close enough for me. The stone would be the pottery (isn't that called stoneware? And the leaf is under the snow. Ha ha. As to the wheel at the right, I debated about it for quite awhile, and decided it added more than it detracted. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Nah....she got the beauty and I got the brains.....actually people make the mistake of calling me Sharon Stone ALL the time, really.

delightful! from the woodwork on the door, the peeling paint, the painted tire planter, all buried under a blanket of snow. i would like to see this same spot in all of the seasons!

Thanks. I'd be delighted to go back and photograph it in all four seasons, but I don't know if my host on this trip would be so delighted to have me back that often.

Another Thomas Wolfe fan? Love it! I hope you will forgive me for stealing the words, but I have wanted to use that for a title for a long time, and this seemed as good a time as any.

When I whatched you shoot this one... I sat in the truck warming up my feet...I was wondering WTF? Now I see the light..or should I say the image? Great composition and the exposure is right on! I know you mentioned not liking the tiny wheel in the lower corner...but I still think it works fine!...Nice one...Juan

Thanks for the comment and for making the pic possible. I'm really happy with this one since it was such a grab shot. It wasn't what we stopped to photograph, but when I turned it was just asking to be taken.
