Thanks Emmanuel for your kind words. This image was actually from the ballet performance I attended in December. My friend has another performance in a few weeks and I revisited some of my earlier work. It is all a learning endeavor, but honestly it doesn't take much effort to make these dancers beautiful and the lighting is all handled by more experienced stage hands than me, so failure is NOT an option. Thanks again for taking notice..LJ PS (how is the new baby?)

these are beautiful Lesa. it would be nice though to see a bit of the reflection in the floor as in some of your other shots. when is the next ballet? i think it will be a nice break from your studies! keep me posted...

Thanks Linda....in a few of my other shots that I re-edited I did in fact leave the reflection in the floor. I will post them soon, so check back. The next ballet performance is the first weekend of March, and is Cinderella. It should prove fun. Thanks for your support....regards.....LJ

Elegant in many ways....the attitude and right moment, the light...the abstraction from the rest with a strong black BG...very interesting serie like a study of elegance and movement...

Thanks Kazimiera, Laurent, and Dave for your comments. Dave- you made me panic for a second with the off balance. I thought I remembered making sure that her foot that is flat was horizontal, which maybe it's not 100% level, but close enough for me. I think she looks a bit tilted due to the position and flow of her arms and hands. Maybe? Don't know what to say about the legs, she is fully grown, not a little person or anything, could be the angle I shot from? or lighting? don't know. Thanks for giving me a small anxiety attack anyhoo :))) Regards....LJ

i am guessing it is the pointe shoes that make her legs look short. the shoes are longer than normal which lengthens the leg when on the toes, but look a little awkward proportionally when the foot is flat.
