Michael, did you have to do much to this image to get this look or was this all in the development and exposure? Excellent detail. - Sean

Sean, It was heavy overcast and the Graves at Highgate Cemetery are covered with soot and mold so they were pretty dark. I shot the trix at 400 and the tones came out pretty much as I saw them at the time.

Michael, if I may have one more question. You metered an overcast scene which seems pretty contrasty. Did you reduce development time or was this developed normally? I'm one day away from receiving my B&W chemicals and film. Tension is high as are my hopes. I would like my first batch to go well, which the reason for the questions. Thanks Michael - Sean

Actually the scene was pretty flat because of the overcast light. The subject though was pretty contrasty with a white (although dirty) marble cherub, and moss overgrown marble. I developed it in D76 normal, which for me is 8 min at 68 degrees. If the suject was not so contrasty, I would have shot the tri-x at ASA 650 and pushed the film a little in D76 for 9 min. I hope this helps.

Beautiful picture - you captured sadness and commemoration in such a great quality, feeling of tones. Amazing work.
