photogenics 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Good attempt. As for improvement, using frontal illumination generally kills a still life image because front light 'flattens' the look. Bringing out shape/form is one of the key objective of still life photography. As shutter speed is not a limiting factor in still life photo, even some table lamps with shades or flash lights can be utilised to illuminate the subject from various angles and it would bring out the shapes/forms of the objects. You may also try 'painting with light technique. One of the masters of that technique here on PN is Emil and he uses a 25W bulb on a cord and wrap the bulb with a dark cardboard and uses it as a fire horse to sweep across the image scene.
