The day begins with glory but we often miss it. I took this shot, trekking toward Kolakchal mountain resort. I was captivated by the complementary contrast of orange against blue in the sky and the re

The picture is very nice indeed, the red reflection of the rising sun on the white snow. The exposure is excellent, you do not loose any detail of the part shadowed. The only thing which is a bit disturbing is the flare. In my opinion it highlights that there is something artificial between the picture and the viewer.

Much thanks for your kind thoughtful comment. You're right about the flare, but you sure know it's impossible to shoot directly into the sun without causing such a phenomenon. It's an inherent flaw in lens construction, and I mean any lens no matter how good or bad a lens is. The only remedy is post-process cloning out of the flare. I left it be in the same way to make the viewer look at the sun not through his eyes but through the camera viewer. I will surely clone it out and repost it to respect your technical view.

Arash, I like flare. I use old lenses to get more flare!

I never could quite get the effect that the snow has with the sun shining this way, the sparkles.

Beautiful shot, very spiritual.

I feel like a million when I get subjected to so much kindness and constant presence to furnish me with your nice, artistic comments. It's good to have friends like you who are so caring. About the flare, I should say that it produces dynamism if we look at it differently. Some photographers hate the idea, but the successive bokehs that dwindle in size create powerful visual flow through similarity and proximity principles in Gestalt theory. our eyes are perfect in that they eliminate the effect, but a deficiency can sometimes be utilized to achieve a desirable result.
