blowingsky 0 Posted February 17, 2007 Informal and handheld at f2 one cold and grey January morning three weeks ago in Dublin. Title comes from the fact that this is daughter, mother and grandmother. Link to comment
michaelging 1 Posted February 18, 2007 The lighting is beautiful, as is the moment. I would crop some of the black off the right side of the photo. It does nothing to add to the photo and trys to pull your eye away from the baby. well done. Link to comment
blowingsky 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Damn, you are right, Michael. I didn't see that coming. I've changed the displayed photo to include your suggestion and the composition lines up much better. It follows the arc of eyes from left to right more naturally. I thought it would pull the middle figure into the center too much, or look too square, but it didn't. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 20, 2007 An excellent picture in every aspect, Peter, especially since it could easily sink into sentimentality. I think what really appeals to me is the new Grandma's cooly admiring gaze. Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Wonderful light and composition, Peter. The relationship, or should it be interrelationships, is evident. The lighting is very well handled, too. Nice work. Link to comment

snapshooter 0 Posted March 16, 2007 It's a really nice shot, Peter. I still feel you didn't go far enough with the crop. The light vertical bars on the left and the slightly disproportionate hand and baby booties, are a bit distracting. For me, the expressions are everything. Link to comment
blowingsky 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Your crop idea is very interesting. I like it. My intention in keeping things more full frame was to slightly de-focus the scene and show some of the distractions in that single moment of time. The hands the little feet, etc. The mother's right hand is part of a vertical that ends at her face. But when I saw your crop, I felt like I was facing the truth of the image. I think I might take your suggestion. Thanks. Link to comment

Alex_Es 388 Posted September 27, 2007 A really beautiful shot. It is tender without being sentimental. Link to comment
