I don't do manipulations very often. Worked on this last night just

to pass some time. However I would like to hear any thoughts you may

have on it. Hate it? Love it? What works, what doesn't?

I like digital alterations, but I don't grasp the message of this image. I see what appears to be scripted writing and a butterfly whose pattern is badly destroyed. What does that mean?

When I made this there was no preconceived idea of what it would become. As stated it was done for fun. However, the photograph of the butterfly was taken while this poor creature lay dying in front of me.

So perhaps while I created this image became about death, decay....?

I do see a message. The fading of the colours on the butterfly remind me of dead butterflies I have found, and the way it is spread out flat with writing in the background somehow reminds me of 19th century butterfly collectors who used to pin them to boards and make detailed notes in old stained notebooks about each one they caught. Maybe you were just playing around with it when you created it, but it has meaning for me. It's a sad photo in a way, I think, and the colours are lovely.

I like it, the colors especially. Woudl i buy it as a post card (my acid test) ..probably. So gets a good vote from me. Sorry Michelle not be more scientific, except to say the background and the butterfly echco each other's colors, which is what makes it hold together as an image for me.

In my gradmothers stuff I have many old books and MANY old scrap books with lots of old pictures and clippings and OLD articals and letters. LOTS of old letters. WHEN I first came across this I thought that you had taken a picture of an OLD letter and a butterfly that was between the letter PRESSED in a book.

But if you did that the color would be gone and you would have to manipulate the colors back in.

This would be a great affect. What you really did was CREATE that look. THIS is what you did, at least to me. Create a historical looking butterfly still in its glory that has been pressed in a book.

I love it! It is well done and I am just in awe of how you made it look rustic and yet beautiful at the same time!

I'm a lover! Harmonious colour between the backgrounds and butterfly and subtle layering makes this a very beautiful single image.
