This is 'Donna' and maybe the subject line/caption says enough.

This woman, Donna, has more personality than any five or ten others

I normally encounter, and is widely admired by her colleagues just

for that. Besides being a supermarket cashier, she's also a transit

cop and aspired to be (and may now be) a parole officer (she's hot

on guns, I guess). Your ratings and comments are invited and most

welcome. If you rate harshly or very critically, please submit a

helpful and constructive comment; please share your superior

photographic knowledge to help improve my photography. Thanks!

Enjoy! John (Please consider this photo in the context of

my 'Faces' folder for which it is submitted)

When I first spied Donna (and she first spied me) she threw her arms in the air and it was a wonderful photo . . . except for one thing that kept it from being 'great' or even showable. My ISO was set for outdoor daylight and the show was shaky, despite being taken indoors under adequate indoor light, but at night and even though I used a vibration reduction lens.

So, that shot will stay on my hard drive and will continue to confuse me; from a distance or not 'blow up' it looks positively captivating, but on any closer examination, it's totally unviewable. Tant pis (as the French say, so much the worse, or something even more literal than that).

Now, whenever I'm in the neighborhood in San Diego, I make a special trip to Ralph's where Donna works just to try to say 'hi' and maybe sneak another photo of her (she's full of special looks). If she were inclined and had a performance background, she would be one of the perfect 'squares' for a game show like 'Hollywood Squares' or some such, if they're still filming that old canard, as she's a perfect 'ham', sweet with a bit of glaze.

I've been traveling, literally one day on my feet for 14 hours at an airline counter getting rude service (Lufthansa's rudeness -- if you'll excuse the expression, Ruud, as it demeans the sound of your name).

I'm baaaak!!!! (as the creature in that movie used to say . . . what was the movie? . . . oh yes, 'Chuckie'!!!)

I'm glad this one pleased you; I see Donna very seldom; only when I'm in her 'neck of the woods, which is not often, but I always stop by to look for her, which might surprise her, and which attests to the great force of her personality. (she's seldom there; I always 'just missed her.)

(maybe she'll read this, as she knows her photo will be published 'someday' and this is getting a little hoary -- months old)

Best to you.
