I like the clouds especially. The movement of them really contrasts well with the lifelessness of the tree. almost looks like they're taunting it. I agree about the tones. Like it.

This is really nice. I love the tones and the tree. Both work together to give a very somber mood. I would like a little more sky but it still works with the horizon near the center line. I think the foreground bushes look a little over sharpened and are starting to take on a grainy appearance. The slight vignetting helps bring the focus to the tree, as does the bright area below the branches. Well done.
