leroy laverman 0 Posted February 12, 2007 Excellent timing on this one. My only nit pick is the blown out reds in the flowers. Beautiful shot otherwise. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted February 12, 2007 Dave I have only recently started to shoot in RAW and I'm the type to will only read directions when all else fails. Each time I use the editor with a RAW image I learn a bit more about what it is capable of doing.I'm always envious of photographers who have access to hummingbirds. I love to watch them but I see very few of them where I shoot images in Seattle and when I do see them they are without be wonderful colors you've shown. A very nice image! Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted February 13, 2007 I really would like to thank everyone that has commented, wish I had been able to comment quicker to address each of you. I have 2 subjects that I'm addicted to taking photos of; one is the hummer and the other is thistle. Why thistle, I'm clueless except that it has both form and function.I hope to do a better job this coming summer with the hummingbirds that visit. I've spent most of the past year learning photoshop well, for other projects. Now, 2007 is dedicated to learning my D200 and new lenses. Thanks again for your support, positive and negative. susan stone 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Dave, somewhere along the line your imagery took a step up; the compositions, color, and editing are top notch. Of course I love the RED flowers but your "hummer" is exquisite. Link to comment
dave_dube 10 Posted February 13, 2007 Thank you Susan, your comments mean a lot.So, what's happened to cause the upgrade. I think that I'm finally seeing taking a photo and editing as one process. I think the big change came when I purchased Painter, I'm seeing things in a totally different "light". It's all those layers building on each other that have helped me to actually see (finally) the end result of a photo. This may or may not make any sense but all I know is watching 11 hrs of instructional video for Painter and my photos are different (no, I'm not combining the 2 programs ~ yet). Thanks again, Dave Link to comment
susan stone 0 Posted February 13, 2007 Just this week I put the ol' 20D on RAW for the first time and I'm amazed at the quality of images I'm getting and thanks to Juan I've solved some exposure problems and he helped me a bunch with RAW conversion, you know me....always resisting spending time on this damn machine. Upwards and onwards friend.... Link to comment
