Gerald is a mate of Roger's and a fellow blacksmith. I stopped him

during his work today and brought him over to the light....

I feel like I have time travelled to another time as I see this gentleman's image. There's a quiet but yet strong sense of dignity to him.

He does seem like he is from another time...I thought of doing this in duotone...perhaps I might.

My special LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLinda, what a portrait... lighting is PERFECT, I am thinking of a Dutch painter (or something).... classical...

Excellent portrait, Linda! I love the lighting and expression. I think this would work equally well in a sepia tone, but I also love it like it is. Anyone rating this below a 6 (minimum) is just jealous!

An amazing portrait. The color and sharpness throughout couldn't be better. I assume not hand held. Would you share what the lens was and settings?

Barry, it was hand held...ISO 400, F 7.1, shutter speed 1/100, mm 48 {my zoom}. I was pleased that this turned out exactly as I envisioned it....

Incredible shot Linda: Great color and lighting, one of your best yet though it's hard to pick just one. Keep up the great work.

I'm late getting to this one...glad I didn't miss it altogether! This portrait is fabulous...the lighting is very pleasing, his expression and posture, very classic as someone mentioned. I also see him as being reserved or stoic, strong, hardworking...a dedicated family man and friend. Bet he loves this shot.

Happy Valentine's to you and Roger!

A nicely posed portrait with beautiful natural lighting and fine tones. . (I'm sure that Gerald is very pleased with this image).
