Truly an eye-catching abstraction of nature. I guess the blue color cast here is a post-process job, ain't I right? Anyway, the obvious visual elements here are shape, scale, color.

 

In consideration of the shape, I should say there is a great contrast between the

curved outline of the leaves and the absolute circularity of the droplets making the eyes' alternating between two shapes incessantly . The limitation two two distinctive shapes has produced uniformity ( coherence ) in an stunning way. The Similarities in shape has caused unity of the visual experience.

 

There is absolutely no focal point to nominate. The chaos defies balance as we know of. The proportion of figure-ground ( the Law of Pregnanz ) is reversed here. Normally the proportion is 30%-70% directing the eyes toward the figure, but here

the ground ( the dark patch areas ) absorb the visual importance. Great effect !

 

The monochromatism has contributed to the turning of this shot into an abstract entity. were there other colors, the effect would diminish considerably.

 

Before rounding off, I like to point to a defect here, and that's the unsolicited

blur at the upper left corner. I am not sure about your aperture setting, but I can guess it could go away had you used a smaller aperture to extend the DoF envelope a little bit further.

 

That's all to say about this spectacular shot which is indicative of creativity

and clear idea of what one wants and how to accomplish.

I absolutely love this photo and would have to purchase it at an art show if i saw it there!!!! very eye-catching. -erika
