arash khoshghadam 0 Posted February 9, 2007 Hi dieter it's ingenuity to produce a wonderful image out of the elements that are of no great visual value by themselves. Here, I can see the visually conductive texture in the foreground turning the bleakness and emptiness of the ground into an entry point that captures the visual flow and directs the optical movement well into the frame toward the motif. That's where the " camelcade " is in progress. Gestalt calls it proximity and similarity, both issuing a powerful optical flow. I am not sure if the blue expanse of the sky should be in 50-50 proportion with the ground as a 1/3 cut would do the job.( you have a special predilection for these two colors. I can also remember these two colors in one frame from that fantastic ' sand dune ' shot.) The parallel line of sedimentary deposits has strengthened the motif effectively. I conclude by saying that I love simplicity of frame which has been the quality I have observed in the last two works I have critiqued. P.S once again, you have dust on your image sensor. see that single faint blob near the upper edge. get it cleaned up. Link to comment
biskamp 1 Posted February 10, 2007 thanks for the comments arash, what a detailed analysis, thanks a lot. concerning the partitioning, i tried the 1/3 sky version but finally prefered this one, which in my view gives the strongest impression of depth. you are right with the line of rock front of the caravan. concerning the sensor dust, i know about it and on many pictures i took recently it shows up more than clearly so that you have to eliminate it, but on this - on my screen - i have a hard time finding the spot. i shall search for it on the original. regards, dieter Link to comment

jon_hallberg 0 Posted October 25, 2009 I am not put off by the centering of the horizon. Endless sand meets endless sky. I wonder how people can actually live there, as it just seems so undo-able. Link to comment
