wingell 0 Posted February 8, 2007 In the winter of 1963, I began documenting living conditions in the desperately-poor coal-mining region of Eastern Kentucky. On my first trip to the area, I photographed this out-of-work father and his boys in their mountain home in Pretty Roof Hollow near Hazard. The newsprint "wallpaper" used in an effort to keep out the cold gives some indication of their situation. Link to comment
