We are at the frontier here between painting and photography, which brings one to the question again of where reality begins, what is fictional and what is simply an abstraction of the truth. It is easy to get lost in a picture, however it is formed, and thus to enter the world of make believe. My dreams in schooldays were largely composed of such images, either existing or imagined in my mind. Sometimes, I confused the two.

 

Art plays an important function in our dreams and aspirations, not only in reference to our experience in the past, but in what we imagine reality to be outside of the constraints of time. That is why each of us sees something different when we look at a painting or a photograph.

 

Personally, I identify closely with this last series, because it satisfies many parts of my psyche. Apart from the delightful composition and colours, there is that tenebrous world of a confined space full of mystery and hidden meaning which intrigues us and draws us in, making us terrified at the same time that we may never again be able to leave. I draw many parallels in my life to this image. Thus it has fulfilled it's mission as art.

I like all three interpretations a lot, Michae; maybe this is my favorite for the warm atmosphere, the impression to enter a warm dream.
