janisok 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Very nice! I am trying to read your crop....is it about leaving everything behind...? Don't get me wrong I like it. I get asked about my crops and sometimes I have no answer...does that surprise you...I doubt it! Your work is beautiful Michael! J Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Thank you, Clive, Karthikeyan and Janis. Yes, breaking the rules is what I am fond of doing! I think it can inject a sense of 'tension' (good or bad) into the frame and has the ability to involve the viewer at a deeper level. In this image, cropping was top and bottom of frame, otherwise this is how I deliberately composed it in-camera. I guess I wanted to symbolise this lovely couple as embarking on a new journey together. The journey is largely unknown (walking out of frame), but they will face it together. That is how I see it. Of course, in other images, I might crop a particular way because I simply like the way it looks! M :) Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted February 8, 2007 I like that you placed the couple on the far right of the image. In a way, that they are about to leave the frame is appropriate; they are afterall soon to be on their honeymoon and out of sight. Nicely composed. Link to comment
namurray 0 Posted February 9, 2007 The thumbnail of this one caught my eye straight away. It's the composition and the simplicity of the subject and colours; so unusual and so thought provoking. Great work Michael. Regards, Neil Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted February 11, 2007 Thank you, Amar and Neil. Looks like the intentional in-camera framing paid off. I always get the 'safe' captures first (ie. traditional) and then move in for the more creative, symbolic captures if I have the time. M :) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2007 I think your composition is perfect...they are about to disappear on their honeymoon, and on to their life together...side by side...they look relaxed and confident. Link to comment
michaelhills 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Kim, that is just about the way I see it too. Thank you. M :) Link to comment
